Making a better school and a better neighborhood

The Michael Driscoll School

The Town of Brookline, Brookline, MA

The new Pre-K – 8 Michael Driscoll School project uses a radiating floor plan to exemplify the District’s educational vision by conjoining its educational sub-community wings into a central shared visible collaboration zone of Learning Commons/Cafeteria atrium. The design accommodates 800 students and nearly 150 faculty and staff. The facility includes 36 new classrooms, including a media center, a glass-enclosed Art, Maker Space and Functional Lab, collaboration and breakout areas, art and science spaces. An additional basement level below the Washington Street elevation comprises an athletics suite with a 6,000sf gymnasium and associated athletic facilities.
